Baltimore’s Rebecca Meyers, 21, just won the gold and set a new Paralympic record in the S13 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:03.25.I’ll tell you what, it really speaks well for the North Baltimore Aquatic Club, where Meyers is reported to have “trained alongside” Michael Phelps and drawn inspiration from “his dedication to the sport.”

This is Meyers’s first gold and third career medal in her second Paralympic appearance.

S13 is a Paralympic classification which designates swimmers with a certain range of visual impairment. Meyers, who has Usher syndrome, is the U.S. swim team’s only deaf athlete.
