Under Armour is popping up in another Baltimore neighborhood.
Following up on Kevin Plank’s $5 million donation, Under Armour opened the UA House on Tuesday on Fayette St. in Jonestown. The former Carmelo Anthony Youth Development Center was revamped beyond just the name of the big-time backer.
The 30,000 sq. ft. community center has a tutoring center, studios for dance, yoga and recording. There’s also a neighborhood kitchen. Under Armour employees will also volunteer at the center.
The community effort went wider than the shield.
The Ravens pitched in to convert an outdoor basketball court into a covered field house with indoor turf. A donation from Joseph and Deborah Weinberg will also assist with workforce development programming.
Living Classrooms is set to run programming, drawing on its model of hands-on education. CEO James Piper Bond called it a “game-changer.”
