Whenever I read a headline about some national magazine putting one of our local bars on its “best in America” list, I always assume they’re talking about Brewer’s Art. After all, the brewery/bar was named the best bar in America (!) by Esquire not so long ago. But this year, Esquire decided to honor a different Baltimore bar for once.
Rye, in Fells Point, is one of Esquire’s “Best Bars in America” for 2014. The magazine recommends a Diamondback No. 5, a drink that was also recently recommended in Garden & Gun magazine as well. What do you think, readers? Is Rye poised to supplant Brewer’s Art as Baltimore’s most renowned bar?
I love you Brewers but yes, Rye deserves this nod. If you want a great beer and a whiskey Brewers is rocks. However Rye has wonderful cocktails and is a huge part of changing the drinking scene in Baltimore.
