Baltimore County has committed up to $25 million to upgrade and expand the Baltimore Ravens’ headquarters and training facility in Owings Mills.
The investment pledge was included in a new long-term agreement between the county and team, which allows the Ravens to keep their headquarters in Owings Mills for decades.
The agreement includes a lease extension starting Aug. 1, 2028, with options to renew that lease for up to 40 additional years.
“The Ravens have called Baltimore County home since our inception, and that continuity matters. With more than three decades of shared history and strong community relationships, we’re committed to building on that foundation for years to come,” Baltimore Ravens President Sashi Brown said in a statement. “This agreement supports our ability to maintain a world-class facility that helps us attract and retain top players and staff and compete at the highest level every year. It also reflects our broader commitment to the community, including investing in the county’s future through both financial support and meaningful community engagement initiatives for residents across the state to come together and connect.”
The Under Armour Performance Center, where the Ravens train, will undergo up to $120 million worth of updates to modernize and expand the facility. As part of this public-private investment, the Ravens have committed up to $70 million, while the county has pledged up to $25 million over 10 years, pending approval by the Baltimore County Council.
“The Ravens aren’t just our football team, they are our neighbors,” Baltimore County Executive Kathy Klausmeier said in a statement. “Ravens players, coaches, and staff live here, shop and dine here, volunteer here, and raise their families here. This agreement builds on a partnership that has made Baltimore County stronger for nearly three decades and ensures the Ravens will continue to call Baltimore County home for generations to come.”
The county and football team have also formally requested that the Maryland Department of Commerce invest $25 million into the facility upgrades.
Under the agreement, the Baltimore Ravens will partner with Baltimore County to hold at least five community events or activations each year.
Baltimore County has been home to the Ravens’ football operations since the team was established in 1996. In 2004, the Under Armour Performance Center first opened and has served as the Ravens’ headquarters and training facility ever since.
“The Baltimore Ravens is not only a beloved professional sports franchise in our state, but one of Maryland’s strongest economic generators,” Gov. Wes Moore said in a statement. “This landmark agreement underscores the Ravens’ long-term commitment to the Baltimore region and the state, and a strong example of what an effective public-private partnership can look like.”
The Baltimore County Council will consider the county’s financial commitment to the facility during its work session on Sept. 1 and legislative session on Sept. 8.
