Data centers will be front and center this week in Baltimore County.
There will be two hearings, including one on whether there should be a moratorium on data centers through 2027.
That proposal already has the support of a majority of county council members. The council will hold a hearing on the legislation on Tuesday. It would extend the current moratorium that was to expire by the end of this year.
Republican Councilman David Marks said in a recent interview, “This is a serious enough issue that the next county council really needs to be involved and there needs to be extensive public input. This issue has taken a life of its own.”
An expanded nine-member council with at least six new members will take office in December, following the November election.
