If the weather doesn’t say spring, the return of the Baltimore Farmers’ Market most definitely does.

The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) announced that The Baltimore Farmers’ Market will return for its 47th season on April 7. It will be open every Sunday through Dec. 22, rain or shine, under the Jones Falls Expressway (JFX) at Holliday and Saratoga streets. There will be new farms, food vendors, and artisans participating this year.

The Market opens at 7 a.m., and this year the hours of 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. will be “Quiet Shopping Hours.” This will offer a more sensory-friendly environment for people who prefer a calmer shopping experience. During those hours, there will be no buskers, music, or barkers. From 9:30 a.m. on, “visitors can expect all the usual hustle and bustle of the Market,” reads the press release.

Free parking at the Mary Catherine Bunting Garage continues to be sponsored by Mercy Medical Center. The garage is at 330 Guilford Ave. and accessible from Pleasant Street. No parking validation is required.

Some of the new farms, vendors, and artisans will be at the market all season, while others will be there for a trimester, or occasional Sundays. The four new farms farms include Kitchen Girl Farm and its wide variety of colorful vegetable; Lindy’s Seafood’s live crabs and fresh oysters; Thomas’ Green Farm offering organic microgreens; and Watson and William Farm offering premium, ethically raised meats.

Some of this year’s new food vendors will include Backyard Jams and Jellies; beignets in a variety of flavors from Beye Beignets; the family-owned and operated House of Empanadas; homemade gluten-free pasta from Impasta; the comfort food of Royal Sauce’s food truck; and Black, woman-owned Sydney’s Ice Creams.

Vegan shoppers will find three new vegan vendors at the Market, including Hue Café & Apothecary run by a husband-and-wife team; NefeVee with plant-based pastries and meal prep; and Tom Cat’s Kitchen selling prepared vegan meals.

Alcohol-sippers will also find some new choices from Royal Rabbit Vineyards, Twin Valley Distillers, and Two Story Chimney Ciderworks.
