Get Up & Go! How Will You Start Your Year?
We’re not going to push the New Year’s Resolutions too hard, because really, it’s going to take more than a day to shake off the last month and fully commit to being our new gym-going, bliss-following, money-saving, only-local-shopping selves. So this weekend, why not ease into the new year with a little bit of discipline and resolve, but also with some self care and a sense of relaxation. You made it through the holidays, and that’s plenty to celebrate in itself.
For those looking to tone up, get fit, or simply relax, Charm City Yoga is of course the place to go for simple, fool-proof yoga classes that are offered so often (and at so many locations) that you can’t fail. Their New Year’s beginner yoga series starts this Tuesday.
Alternately, CrossFit Federal Hill offers a free trial class to new potential members, so if you’re looking for a 2015 fitness regimen that’s a bit more (okay, a lot more) intense, you may want to give them a try.
If your idea of a New Year’s workout has more to do with lifting glasses than lifting weights, Linganore Winecellars in Mt. Airy is offering a barrel tasting and cellar preview today, along with fine international cheese pairings all month long.
Though January isn’t exactly what most of us think of as prime zoo-going time, it actually kind of is. Over the winter, the Maryland Zoo is open Friday-Monday, with admission set at only $10 per guest. And now that their fabulous new penguin exhibit is open, you can go and feel the chill right along with them.
And if the kids are starting to get itchy, you can still bring them down to Port Discovery for their special Winter Break Fun programming all weekend long.
