The loss of a pet can hit just as hard as the loss of a family member. With a ceremony this weekend, the Baltimore Humane Society is looking to provide a space for grief and celebration of pets’ lives.
The National Pet Memorial Day observance will be held at the Society’s Memorial Park (1601 Nicodemus Rd., Reisterstown) at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 13.
The service will include flutes playing under a canopy of trees, and speakers will address grief and guilt. The service also includes a flower ceremony for owners to commemorate their pets.
All members of the public are invited, and attendees remembering the loss of a pet are invited to bring a photo for remembrance.
