The Sunset Strip is set to get a taste of Baltimore’s famed public art.
Michael Owen, the artist behind The Baltimore Love Project, was commissioned to paint a mural on the side of The Roxy. With the project, Owen will memorialize Lauren Freeman, a 21-year-old who was killed after being hit by a car outside the famed club in 2010. The driver was identified as Ryan Bowman, who was known for distributing Girls Gone Wild content in Australia.
The project will be the first West Coast appearance for the Love Project. Owen is raising money through a GoFundMe page to raise money for the creation of the mural, and to help Freeman’s family attend the unveiling.
