Well, the trade deadline has passed, and we Orioles fans can stop biting our nails and can now assess the fallout of what has been a *cough* disappointing *cough* season.

They traded Ramón Urías to the Astros, right-handed reliever Andrew Kittridge to the Cubs, and right-handed pitcher Charlie Morton to the Tigers in return for one minor leaguer each.

Ramón Laureano and Ryan O’Hearn got traded to the San Diego Padres for six players, but all were 2024 Draft picks.

Side note: What is Kevin Brown going to do now that we only have ONE RYAN on the team??? When we had three it was a Ryfecta. When we had two it was a Rynamic Duo. Kevin, what are you going to come up with for a singular Ryan??? We are all waiting, but alas, Ryan Mountcastle is still on the IL, so you have a little time, KB.

It pains me most to type the words: the Os traded Cedric Mullins (CF) to the Mets for three right-handed pitching prospects. On the bright side, the Mets are my original and forever team, Brooklyn girl that I am and dyed-in-the-wool Yankees-hater my parents raised me to be. So, if our beloved Ced can help the Mets make a run for it all, I can find a way to be happy about it.

Fans on social media are not feeling the love for the fire sale on the day after, though a few took a long view and accepted the news with grace and even optimism.

At least Grok is pleased.

Look, we still have Adley, Gunnar, Colton, Mountie (please, injuries deity, please), and Jackson, and that’s not a core to sneeze at. I grew up a Mets fan in the 1970s and 80s, you can’t scare me. I’m with the Os no matter how many times they run over me with a truck.

  1. Nice condolences and best to all the Os who left and welcome to those joining our club. Peace to all
