If you’ve been captivated by a mysterious dancer who was popping up in various Baltimore neighborhoods over the past several weeks, moving to the music on her iPod, you should know that she just moved all the way to Michigan. She recently ramped up her one-person serial flash mobs as her way of saying goodbye to the city.
The Baltimore Sun’s Quinn Kelley identified the dancer as 30-year-old Betsy Mills. Mills told the Kelley that she used to dance while she ran. After an injury, she started dancing while she walked, instead.
Her typical haunts were Mount Vernon and the Inner Harbor, but one particularly amazing YouTube video captures a rare incident in Canton. Note how Mills’ moves happily synch with the videographer’s music:
“It just makes me really happy and it makes other people happy,” she said of her street dancing. “It seemed like a really good way to say goodbye to the city.”
