There are tattoo artists who specialize in monsters, or portraits of Marilyn Monroe, or elaborate gothic letters. Baltimorean Vinnie Myers, of Little Vinnieโ€™s Tattoos in Northwest Baltimore, specializes in nipples.

But not just any nipples, of course; for more than a decade, Myers has worked with women whoโ€™ve has mastectomies on breast tattoos meant to recreate the appearance of nipples. Many women โ€” including some from as far afield as Saudi Arabia and Brazil โ€” consider Myersโ€™s work as an alternative to reconstructive surgery, that tattooist said.

โ€œI feel like I have the best possible job as a service provider for breast cancer warriors. Iโ€™m on the back side of the battle. The finishing touch. The last step. I truly get to put the cherries on the cupcakes!โ€ Myers told breastcancer.com. Weโ€™ll forgive him that slightly inane statement because the man really does do good work. His special trick is using womenโ€™s own scar tissue to create a 3D effect. On a typical day, heโ€™ll see around three breast cancer patients. โ€œWhile tattooing MOM, hearts and dragons was fun and a great job, this new dynamic in my vocation has become my obsession,โ€ Myers admitted to the Daily Mail.
