The Barbershop Quartet GQ gathered around member Katie Gillis’s kitchen table in Hamilton Hills recently to rehearse. First question: What to sing? The group banter began.

“I don’t know that song.” “We can try it.” “We should do that.” “I can sight read.” “You want to sight read it?” “Sure.”

Then the group broke into perfect four-part harmony, singing “Where Do You Start,” which has been sung by, among others, Michael Feinstein and Barbra Streisand.
