Do you love beer? What about bluegrass music? How about oxymorons? Well, Pickett Brewing Company is giving you all of those to honor their 2nd anniversary in Pigtown by launching “The Big Little Bluegrass Room” in a four-day celebration from Aug. 15 – 18.
The Pickett Brewing Company’s brewery and taproom has become a hub for bluegrass bands to showcase their talents at their “Bluegrass Sundays” series in addition to special events. The Big Little Bluegrass Room is an extension of that focus on the love of bluegrass. The 4-day celebration will include live music, beer releases, new merchandise, and local food.
“I’ve always loved local bluegrass and have attended DelFest for years. To build collaboration between Pickett and bluegrass in Baltimore is an honor. Our beers are often inspired by bluegrass artists and songs – even our fermenters are named after singers like Del, Flatt, and Scruggs. We’re also launching Bluegrass Sunday Pilsner in new 12oz 6-pks for our anniversary, too,” said Jason Howard, Founder and Head Brewer of Pickett Brewing, in a statement.
The brewery has hosted local Bluegrass favorites like Geraldine and The High & Wides. Pickett has also hosted a sold-out ticketed show by The Dirty Grass Players, with whom they brewed a collaboration beer, “Hazy Side Up,” for DelFest 2023. In February they hosted “Bluegrass in Baltimore” with Baltimore author Tim Newby — an event which also sold out. Newby explored the history of Bluegrass in Baltimore through storytelling and song.
“For our second anniversary we’ve reflected on our successes with our bluegrass events. We’re excited to have Caleb Stine, Ryan Rogers from The Dirty Grass Players, and local favorites Hat & Hair to celebrate with us for the weekend. We’ll also announce our lineup for The Big Little Bluegrass Room and can’t wait to continue to grow and build collaborations between beer and bluegrass,” said Kate Conway, owner of Picket Brewing Company, in a statement.
