Baltimore Fishbowl has been recognized as the city’s best general interest news site by Baltimore magazine.

The magazine’s annual “Best of Baltimore” issue, on newsstands now, cites Baltimore Fishbowl for its “interesting mix of original reporting and curated content.” The magazine features hundreds of editors’ choices for Baltimore’s best dining, arts, culture, service, style, media and more.

The recognition is especially gratifying because it comes as the local media landscape shifts, with new players entering the local market. Baltimore Fishbowl employs a small staff with just three on the editorial team, plus an intern, and just one ad sales representative, in contrast to The Baltimore Sun and The Baltimore Banner which each employ dozens of reporters alone.

Baltimore Fishbowl has been recognized by Baltimore Magazine before. When the website launched in 2011 it received the “best new website” award, and in 2013 columnist Marion Winik won “best humorist” for her Baltimore Fishbowl column Bohemian Rhapsody.

All the winners will be celebrated at the magazine’s “Best of Baltimore” party on Thursday, Aug. 18 from 6-10 p.m. at the American Visionary Art Museum. (Outgoing AVAM executive director and founder Rebecca Hoffberger is also an honoree in the “Only in Baltimore” division in the “Legacy” category.). For ticket information, click here.

Susan Gerardo Dunn is the founding editor and publisher of Baltimore Fishbowl.
