Dreamseeds: Makerspace and Happy Hour
Thursday, August 4 • 4-6pm
You are invited to spend time dreaming, connecting, making with Sanahara Ama Chandra and Hannah Brancato, to share stories of possibilities for a powerful future. Come out for snacks and drinks, and join us for an afternoon of meditation, paper making, and sound healing.
Anyone who identifies as an artist, activist, healer or visionary is welcome!! No art or music making experience is necessary! Children are invited. You are welcome to sign up for one or multiple of the upcoming workshops.
The artworks and conversations from this workshop will be woven together for Dreamseeds, an installation of textiles, sound, and interactive components that invites current and budding activists and visionaries in Baltimore to develop visions for the future, at Gallery CA, October 7-November 11, 2022.
This project is supported by a 2021 Rubys Artist Grant, which is a program of the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation.
Bar Grand Opening!
Thursday, August 4 • 5pm
@ Current Space
🎉 We’re thrilled to announce the grand opening of our outdoor bar, which will help subsidize and expand our arts programming! Starting in August, we’ll be open every Wed-Sat from 5-11pm (or later). 🍸🍹🍷🍺
🎺 We’re marking the occasion with a free, grand opening celebration on Thu, Aug 4th including jazz performances by Brandon Woody & Friends and tunes from DJ Ned Ryerson!
🍻 Happy Hour: 5-7pm
💕 Toasts: 6pm
🎊 While Current Space has been in operation since 2004, the number of events we’ve held each month was limited by the number of one-day licenses we could secure through partnerships with nonprofits or by working with a caterer. Now, we’re able to fill our calendar with programming – including music, exhibitions, workshops, an experimental fashion show, drag, puppetry, performance art, poetry reading, and more!
🙏 The new license was created through state legislation – thank you to the 40th District Team with a special thank you to State Senator Antonio Hayes! We’re also grateful to have received a BGE Energizing Small Business Grant hosted by Hello Alice, which we put toward the costs of building out and equipping their bar! Finally, we’re always grateful to our volunteers, our members, and all of the amazing artists we are so lucky to work with!
We’re celebrating all week:
🤗 Wed, 8/3: Members Soft Opening
🥂 Thu, 8/4: Bar Grand Opening
💃 Fri, 8/5: Bar Open! Entertainment TBA
🕺 Sat, 8/6: Bar Open! Entertainment TBA
So, join us the first week of August to celebrate and come out for a drink any Wed-Sat evening after that!
