Boston Is No Longer the 2024 U.S. Olympic Bid City

2024 OlympicsWashington, D.C., and Baltimore may see their Olympic bid given a second shot.

Once upon time, D.C., Baltimore, and a few other Maryland and Virginia locations put together bid to host the 2024 Olympic Games. We called it DC 2024. Sadly (or happily — it’s hard to tell with these things), we were passed over by the United States Olympic Committee in favor of Boston.

Well, Boston’s bid “deflated,” as D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser’s chief of staff put it. (Wait, was that a knock against the Patriots?) And, while it’s “still too early to say what is next” yadda yadda, it raises the possibility that your mid-Atlantic, multi-city Olympic fantasy may yet come true.

Our biggest competitor is Los Angeles, which is now the odds-on favorite to be the U.S. bid city, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

  1. Please let LA have it. The pitting of two areas against each other is just a method to squeeze more money out of the people.
Boston was smart to get out.
