Baltimore Symphony Orchestra oboist Katherine Needleman is well aware that one must prepare to be a good guest at parties around this time of year. That’s why she has a party trick ready.

The double nose recorder looks like a triumph of nostril coordination, airflow control and clear sinuses. While she makes it look easy, there’s good reason. Needleman writes on Facebook that she’s been perfecting it since third grade. To be fully in-season, she prepared a double nose rendition of “Jingle Bells.”

Party Trick: Double Nose Recorder. I got in a lot of trouble in third grade for doing this in my general music class. Happy Holidays.
