Kentucky Derby winner California Chrome is the odds-on favorite to win the 139th Preakness Stakes. His odds are 3-5! If he wins the Preakness, he’ll be on track to be the first triple-crown winner in 36 years. And that would certainly be something. But if I’m putting money on the race, I’m betting on California Chrome’s toughest competitor, because it seems like the only moral choice.
His odds are only 5-1, but his name is Social Inclusion, and that’s good enough for me. I know that race horses are known for having strange names, but this guy might as well be called It’s Not Whether You Win or Lose, It’s How You Play the Game. And when you put Social Inclusion against California Chrome, it’s easy to tell who is the cocky villain with the flashy looks and who is the underdog with nothing but heart in this Hollywood sports narrative.
Seriously, guys. I’m going to the Preakness with a huge sign with “I’M HERE TO SUPPORT SOCIAL INCLUSION” in magic marker.
