After finding a lost gray-and-white cat named Sox and returning her to her despairing owner, Canton’s Shiso Tavern invented a sushi roll in her honor. Because why not?Baltimore Business Journal reported on the tale of the lost cat that brought a community together over Facebook as residents uploaded pictures of gray-and-white strays to the Canton Neighbors Facebook page to see if Joe Brockmeyer recognized any of them as Sox, who ran away from his Elliott Street home the day he moved in.
After a month on the lam Sox turned up at the back door of Shiso Tavern, and managing partner Tim Ernst thought to take a picture of her and uploaded it to Facebook. Almost immediately Brockmeyer was reunited with his cat. Ernst refused the $300 reward, but he did decide to create a sushi roll to commemorate the occasion. The Sox The Cat roll includes tuna, avocado, cucumber, and tempura. It’s even topped with black sesame seeds and wasabi mayo to evoke Sox’s two-tone legs.
