A lot of attention will be focused on costumes and frights this weekend, but there’s also a chance to experience another rite of fall.
On Saturday, Oct. 29, Jailbreak Brewing Company is hosting a chili cookoff at its brewery in Laurel. The afternoon event sounds like a sampler’s dream with chili and beer abounding. It’s also going toward a good cause (other than your stomach). A portion of the proceeds will also benefit Ellicott City as the town recovers from the summer’s flooding. There’s chili tasting, a chili eating contest and live music.
The organizers didn’t completely forget about Halloween, as costumes are encouraged, and will also be judged at a contest. Awards will be handed out for best adult, best kid costume and best dog costume.
