Isiah Whitlock, Jr. can only say “sheeeeeeeee-it!” so many times. So, he wants to make a talking bobblehead to double the possibilities.
Whitlock, who made the phrase famous during his turn as politician Clay Davis on The Wire, launched a Kickstarter to fund the talking bobblehead project. The bobblehead will have three different variations of the phrase programmed. According to Kickstarter, brand strategy firm The Levity Dept. is behind the product.
For Whitlock, the project is a matter of common sense.
“People come up to me on the street, in bars and restaurants, on trains and planes, at sports games and even on film sets, and ask me to say my signature catchphrase,” he writes on the Kickstarter page. “But think about. Stopping me on the street is not the most practical way to have me say sheeeeeeeee-it.”
Of course, money wouldn’t hurt either. As of 4:30 p.m. Thursday Whitlock was about three-quarters of the way to his $12,500 goal.
And even if the project doesn’t get off the ground, we now know that the classic phrase contains nine e’s. Even the Whitlock Academy didn’t teach that.
