When Hurricane Irene blew through the area two weeks ago many Marylanders lost power. And we all lost our Berger Cookies.
After the storm had passed, owner Charles DeBaufre found all his delivery boxes of the freakishly rich chocolate-frosted treat water-logged. I’m thankful I wasn’t there to see the carnage.
However good these last two Berger-free weeks have been for my health, they have been hell on my sweet tooth. Fortunately, after a heroically speedy restocking, deliveries went back on line Monday. And everything should return to status quo for Baltimore dessert addicts very soon.
