Want a keepsake from the Milton Inn?

Starting Friday, Alex Cooper Auctioneers will be selling the contents of the historic restaurant in Baltimore County, in preparation for a new dining spot that will be opened by the Foreman Wolf Restaurant Group.

โ€œWith all lots starting at $20, you donโ€™t want to miss this auction, featuring: rugs, art, furniture, glasses, light fixtures and more,โ€ the auctioneer announced on social media today.

A favorite with diners from Baltimore County and beyond, the Milton Inn closed last June after 73 years in business, a victim of the coronavirus pandemic. Located at 14833 York Road in Sparks, it was known as a spot to celebrate special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries โ€“ group events that couldnโ€™t take place during the pandemic.

Tony Foreman and chef Cindy Wolf of the Foreman Wolf group partnered with Executive Chef Chris Scanga to take ownership of the Milton Inn property, and announced plans to open a new restaurant inside the 273-year-old building by late spring. Katie DeStefano Design is the interior designer. Baltimore Countyโ€™s liquor board has already approved the transfer of the Milton Innโ€™s liquor license.

According to Alex Hernan, director of furniture for Alex Cooper, the auction consists of about 200 lots from the Milton Inn, from glassware to tables and chairs to paintings off the walls. He said some items even bear the Milton Inn name, including certain plates, a large two-part sign that marked the entrance and a sign behind the bar.

โ€œA lot of it is going to be assorted glasses, barware, wine glasses, cocktail glasses, highball-lowball glasses,โ€ he said. โ€œThereโ€™s going to be a large selection of dining tables and chairs. Thereโ€™s also going to a selection of art, hunt scenes and paintings. And then thereโ€™s going to be a large collection of dinner plates.โ€

Hernan said the sale is a timed online auction that will start on Friday, January 29, and the final day of bidding will be Wednesday, February 10. Although itโ€™s an online sale, he said, Alex Cooper will have one or two previews on the premises before the final day of bidding, to give prospective buyers a chance to see whatโ€™s available.

Everything from the restaurant in still in place for now, waiting for the auction. Hernan said the emphasis at the sale will be on items from the front of the house rather than kitchen equipment and supplies.

โ€œThere are not many items pertaining to equipment,โ€ he said. โ€œItโ€™s primarily tables, chairs, decorative items, sconces and that sort of thing.โ€

A complete list of the auction items with photos and information about on the on-site preview will be posted Friday at bid.alexcooper.com.
