
Maryland’s seven-day average rate of positive coronavirus tests has been higher than 3 percent for nine consecutive days, state data show.
After the average rose to 3.09 percent on Oct. 13, it has remained above the 3 percent mark every day since.
Over the last seven days, an average of 3.1 percent of the state’s COVID-19 tests have come back positive. That is up slightly by 0.02 percentage points from the seven-day average rate of 3.08 percent last Thursday.
The state has recorded 3,831 positive coronavirus cases since last Thursday, Oct. 15, and 68,089 negative results in that same period, according to the Maryland Department of Health’s COVID-19 Case Map Dashboard.
Since the pandemic began, at least 137,979 Marylanders have tested positive for coronavirus, while 1,705,376 have tested negative as of Thursday morning.
Maryland reported 183,842 coronavirus test results in the past seven days, and the state has completed a total of 3,169,302 tests to date.
As of Thursday morning, there are currently 458 Marylanders hospitalized due to coronavirus, including 333 in acute care and 125 in intensive care, state data show.
Maryland has hospitalized 348 people for coronavirus in the past seven days, and the number of people currently hospitalized is up by 46 patients from 412 last Thursday.
The state’s current hospitalizations reached 464 on Tuesday, the highest amount since the state recorded 475 hospitalizations on Aug. 19.
Maryland has hospitalized a total of 16,603 people with COVID-19 to date.
A total of 3,924 Marylanders have died from COVID-19, with 41 additional deaths reported since last Thursday.
There are also 146 deaths suspected to be related to coronavirus.
As of 10 a.m. Thursday, there have been 31,844 confirmed cases in Prince George’s County (+742 since last Thursday); 24,772 in Montgomery County (+757); 19,897 in Baltimore County (+622); 17,079 in Baltimore City (+432); 11,514 in Anne Arundel County (+461); 5,684 in Howard County (+176); 4,581 in Frederick County (+145); 3,482 in Harford County (+147); 3,067 in Charles County (+84); 2,397 in Wicomico County (+138); 2,168 in Carroll County (+60); 2,158 in Washington County (+104); 1,420 in St. Mary’s County (+38); 1,299 in Cecil County (+107); 1,186 in Worcester County (+35); 1,145 in Calvert County (+63); 743 in Queen Anne’s County (+29); 735 in Dorchester County (+82); 721 in Caroline County (+33); 631 in Talbot County (+35); 604 in Allegany County (+66); 401 in Somerset County (+38); 336 in Kent County (+10); and 115 in Garrett County (+27), according to the dashboard.
Maryland has confirmed 5,347 cases in people age 9 or younger (+243 since last Thursday); 12,086 in people ages 10-19 (+424); 26,093 in people ages 20-29 (+816); 24,802 in people ages 30-39 (+836); 21,873 in people ages 40-49 (+698); 20,106 in people ages 50-59 (+643); 13,523 in people ages 60-69 (+447); 7,948 in people ages 70-79 (+223); and 6,201 in people age 80 or older (+101).
The state has identified 72,699 of the confirmed COVID-19 patients as female and 65,280 as male–which increased by 2,292 and 2,139, respectively, since last Thursday.
Of the Marylanders who have tested positive for COVID-19, 42,907 are Black (+1,140 since last Thursday), 29,229 are Hispanic (+811), 36,207 are white (+1,567), 2,644 are Asian (+88), 6,401 are another race (+203), and data is not available for the remaining 20,591 (+622).
Nationwide, there have been at least 8,342,228 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States (+424,839 since last Thursday), including at least 222,263 deaths (+5,330) and 3,323,354 recoveries (+167,560). More than 127.8 million people in the U.S. have been tested for COVID-19 as of 10 a.m. Thursday, according to a real-time dashboard created by Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Systems Science and Engineering.
