If you want to be the most popular house on the block this Halloween, you’ll want to stock up on this candy.
The most popular candy for Maryland is none other than Snickers, according to data analyzed by DoorDash.
The food ordering and delivery company examined customers’ candy orders from the month leading up to last Halloween — Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, 2024 — to predict which sweets will be abundant in this year’s trick-or-treating hauls.
Snickers, the chocolate bar filled with nougat, caramel and peanuts, was not only a favorite for Maryland, but also for California and Nevada.
But another candy reigns supreme among the most U.S. states: Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.
Fourteen states went nuts for Reese’s last Halloween, including all of our neighboring states.
“We’re seeing a real revival of comfort classics this Halloween,” said Cristen Milliner, Consumer Trends Expert at DoorDash, in a statement. “Candy has become a kind of time capsule, with millennial parents passing down the staples they grew up with, while Gen Z and Gen Alpha are reinterpreting those same treats as retro comfort. What might have once been written off as ‘cringe’ by younger generations is now being embraced as feel-good nostalgia.”
Milliner points to a resurgence of items that have been considered “grandma candy,” like Bit-O-Honey, Necco Wafers, and Strawberry Bon Bon, as well as retro sweets like Baby Bottle Pop, that show “how different generations might be finding joy in the same classics, just in their own way.”
Other popular picks based on the 2024 data were Sweet Smiles Candy (six states), Twizzlers Twists (five states), Sweetarts (four states), Red Vines (three states), Laffy Taffy (three states), Trolli (three states), and Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar (two states).
There were some outlier candies that were the favorite of just one state each: Sour Patch Kids, Haribo, Skittles, Airheads, Twix, Cadbury, and Nerds.
DoorDash also looked at orders from August 2025 through early September 2025. Although the season is not complete yet, the company predicts Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Creme will be a rising star for a new U.S. favorite.
