Heading to the soccer match at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday to see DC United play Inter Miami CF? Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) wants motorists to be prepared.
The game starts at 4:30 p.m., but traffic changes begin well before then, as high volumes of traffic are expected downtown. Road and lane closures will begin on Saturday as early as 11:30 a.m.
The following road and lane closures will be in effect beginning at around 11:30 a.m.:
- Northbound Russel Street Service Drive between West and Hamburg Streets
- Hamburg Street Bridge between Leaden Hall and Paca Streets for game ingress. Bridge will be open for first half of game, then close again at the start of the second half.
- Ostend Street Bridge between Sharp and Warner Streets for game ingress. Bridge will be open for first half of game, then close again at the start of the second half.
- Warner Street will have a special traffic pattern temporarily between the Ostend Street Bridge and Stockholm Street for game ingress and railroad crossings.
- Warner Street, Alluvion Street, Worcester Street, and Bayard Street will have special traffic patterns for game egress at the start of the second half of the game.
- Hamburg Street will be temporarily closed between Hanover and Charles Streets for egress at the start of the second half.
- Hanover Street will have no southbound travel allowed between Henrietta and Hamburg Streets at the start of the second half. Traffic will be diverted onto Henrietta Street for east or westbound travel.
Warner Street is closed between Worcester and W. Ostend Streets because of construction. To help with gameday traffic, a special traffic pattern will be implemented on Warner Street for fans entering and leaving the stadium. There will be a one-way ingress (northbound) and egress (southbound) lane on Warner Street, and a pedestrian walkway.
Baltimore City DOT urges fans attending the game to pay close attention to all posted parking restrictions and residential permit parking regulations around the stadium, as those rules will be strictly enforced. Fans planning to drive should use commercial parking lots and avoid area neighborhoods. DOT recommends that anyone without a stadium parking permit use public transportation, including the Charm City Circulator, which is free. Riders can use the Passio GO! app to help plan their trips.
Because of the expected high traffic volumes, Transportation Enforcement Officers will be on hand in the area to help keep traffic moving and pedestrians safe. Anyone driving near the stadium should expect heavy foot and vehicle traffic, and the possibility that additional traffic patterns may change before and during the game.
