Baltimore gets a decent amount of play in the movie and television world already: who remembers “Roc”? “Hairspray” is beloved, “The Wire” is revered, “Homicide” is an unsung hero, “Diner” and “Avalon” quiet beauties. Who can forget on “Seinfeld” when Elaine gets tossed from the ownerโs box at Yankee Stadium because she wouldnโt take off her Orioles hat? Epic.
Well, move over, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss; Derrick Henry has stars in his eyes. The Baltimore Ravens running back was on โThe Dan Patrick Showโ earlier in the week, discussing rushing for almost 2,000 yards last season but missing it by 79 yards. He laughed about it, though, saying it was not that important to him to reach that number.
Before the show was over, Henry complimented Patrick on his Happy Gilmore sweatshirt, saying Adam Sandler was his favorite actor. Patrick, it turns out, is friends with Sandler and has even appeared briefly in some of his movies. So, according to Ravens reporting, Patrick leveraged that friendship as incentive: if Henry reaches 2,000 yards this season, he promised to get Henry a role in an Adam Sandler movie.
“Say no more. Remember that now,” Henry said. “The bet is on. No pressure at all.”
Why no pressure? Because while Henry has surpassed 2,000 yards once before in 2020 with the Titans, no player has done it twice.
Look out โ the first Ravens game is on Sunday, Sept. 9th at 8:20 p.m. In case you missed the Ravensโ schedule release, you can see it here.

UPDATE
Well, the bet is officially on, Baltimore! Dan Patrick got his pal, Adam Sanders on the phone and asked him if he was on board with what he’d promised Derrick Henry, and Sanders was all in!
Sanders recorded himself while he was strolling in the halls of his hotel with his dog, offering Derrick Henry a part in whatever the next cinematic venture would be if he hits 2,000 yards, and we see Henry looking like a kid on Christmas morning watching the video.
