The highlight of the whole night was Michelle Obama. She killed it last night. She was unleashed, she said what was on her mind. Everyone was going crazy.
Barack said it best, about what was he thinking by going after her.
Sheโs outwardly said she hates politics. Not being in politics gives her the license to be more free to express herself. She keeps it all the way 100, all the time.
I particularly liked when she told us how to get to work in the campaign. โYou know what you need to do, just do it,โ she said.
You hear it all the time when you are involved in campaigns. People say โI wanted to help, but no one called me.โ But she took that excuse off the table. Thereโs so much on the line.
She just crushed it. She couldnโt get through her speech. The whole crowd was feeling it.
Before that was the roll call, and everyone said it was the best roll call ever. We had not clue how it was going to happen. I hear that the DJ reached out a little bit to each delegation, but it was the DJ who ultimately chose the song.
Iโm not sure I loved the song he picked for Maryland. I mean, no disrespect to the Queen of Soul, but did yโall see what Georgia did? They brought down the house.
I thought the Angela Alsobrooks speech was terrific. She crushed it. The video they showed before was talking about Kamala and her role as a prosecutor, and it really addressed some of the misperceptions of females as strong leaders. Her ability to go after some of the most violent offenders as a prosecutor was really powerful, and Angela Alsobrooks speaking afterwards comes across as a similar leader. It was a defining point.
For us, Maryland is representing three nights in a row. Jamie Raskin on the first night, then Angela Alsobrooks, and Wes Moore today.
I feel like itโs building up. It went to another level yesterday.
Tonight, when Gov. Moore speaks, the Maryland delegation will all be wearing Maryland Strong Baltimore Tough shirts โ black with white letters โ the ones that we were wearing after the Key Bridge collapse.
At our delegation breakfast this morning, we heard from the Democratic nominees for Congress โ including Sarah Elfreth in the 3rd District, Johnny O in the 2nd District, and April McClain-Delaney in the 6th District. Mayor Scott took a friendly shot at Ken Ulman, the state party chair, who has been singing โTurn Down For Whatโ ever since Lil Jon walked down the stairs and the Georgia delegation cast their votes. Nancy Pelosi also turned up to the Maryland Delegation breakfast this morning, and got us fired up.
