Thereโ€™s a lot going on right now for Animal Collective, the psych-pop band with roots in Baltimore County, as the group prepares the release of โ€œTangerine Reef,โ€ an audiovisual album set to โ€œslow pans across surreal aquascapes of naturally fluorescent coral.โ€ Per Rolling Stone, it was recorded here in Baltimore, at a studio where Josh Dibb, aka Deakin, works.

Even with all the activity surrounding an album roll-out, Dibb is hitting the road for a short stint of solo shows that includes a set tonight at the Parkway Theatre. Though Dave โ€œAvey Tareโ€ Portner and Noah โ€œPanda Bearโ€ Lennox have been more prodigious when writing outside of Animal Collective, Dibbโ€™s first solo album, 2016โ€™s โ€œSleep Cycle,โ€ was a standout for its oscillating, dense soundscapes and Dibbโ€™s lyrics about overcoming his own self-doubt. The decaying opulence of the grand Parkway Theatre will make a nice setting to let the dense, psychedelic tones of Dibbโ€™s music wash over you. Highlife and Steve Strohmeier will also perform, and Nicole Mazarakis and Greg St. Pierre will provide visuals throughout the show.

8 p.m., The Parkway Theatre, 5 W. North Ave., (443) 438-6144, mdfilmfest.com, $10.
