Bill Murray and Jan Vogler.

Tonight in Baltimore, accomplished cellist Jan Vogler, violinist Mira Wang and pianist Vanessa Perez will be performing selections by Franz Schubet, George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein with accompanying vocals from Bill Murray. Yes, that Bill Murray.

The show “New Worlds,” the same name as Vogler and Murray’s collaborative album, promises readings of Ernest Hemingway, Mark Twain and other authors, in addition to singing where required.

It’s not quite comedy, but there is something pretty amusing about Murray singing “I Feel Pretty” from “West Side Story” and exuding a fair amount of Bill Murray-ness. But there’s something more at work here, what Murray referred to in an interview with NPR as a diverse group “talking about America as equals.” Here are a few clips from when the ensemble appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”
