Start off this weekend’s citywide celebration of LGBTQ liberation with a series of DJ sets, rap performances and a drag show in Station North, organized by some of the same folks who regularly organize packed shows at The Crown.
GayCon, happening tonight at Metro Gallery, is DIY collective Kahlon’s brand new annual Baltimore Pride party. Tonight’s lineup includes DJ sets from Kahlon creator and local rapper Abdu Ali, Brooklyn’s Sissy Elliott and Philly’s Precolumbian. Baltimore emcee DDm and Fluent will also be taking the stage, and event co-host GRL PWR is putting on Drag Hour.
All of this precedes what’s sure to be an electric weekend-long celebration for Baltimore’s LGBTQ community, with a block party and a parade running down Charles Street tomorrow and a festival at Druid Hill Park on Sunday.
Starts at 8:30 p.m., $10 at door, Metro Gallery, 1700 N. Charles Street, (410) 244-0899, tickets here.
