DJ nights come and go, or evolve into something else entirely new. Metal Monday has persevered, with DJs playing all types of metal–death, thrash, stoner, black and all the staples–every Monday night at the Ottobar for 15 years. Now that Metal Monday is almost old enough to drive, the venerable rock club is celebrating with a special edition tonight.

DJ Devil’s Activist will be providing the tunes, as will special guest DJ Adam Jarvis, of the local death metal band Misery Index and regional grindcore group Pig Destroyer. The anniversary party also includes metal trivia, metal bingo and prizes. At midnight, there will be a screening of the documentary “Heavy Metal Parking Lot,” a treasured cultural artifact filmed outside the Capital Centre in Landover, Maryland before a 1986 Judas Priest show that, as Deadspin’s Dave McKenna once noted, is “the ‘Citizen Kane’ of wasted teenage metalness.”

Do they like heavy metal in Baltimore? Yeahhh. Will everybody have a good time? Hell yeah!
