With these event picks, the staff at Baltimore Fishbowl usually tries suggesting something fun to get readers out of the house and explore the region. Today, we’re suggesting you post up in front of a TV. Why? Because tonight is the broadcast of the one and only debate scheduled between Gov. Larry Hogan and former NAACP president and venture capitalist Ben Jealous.

We won’t get into the finger-pointing back-and-forth as to why this is the sole debate, but suffice it to say this is not a good look for either side. Voters need to make informed choices, and healthy public debates on policy and each candidate’s record are a useful way to cut through the spin and tit for tat of the campaign trail. And yeah, it looks like we’re only going to get one shot at this.

So find a politically aligned viewing party, if you are so inclined, or tune in to Maryland Public Television to hear what Hogan and Jealous have to say. The network is also streaming the debate online, and WBAL-TV is airing it as well.

7 p.m., wherever you can access a TV with Maryland Public Television or WBAL-TV, mpt.org/debate.
