Fresh off a national award for his and Wendel Patrick’s immersive, neighborhood-centric program “Out of the Blocks,” WYPR’s Aaron Henkin is taking the stage tonight for a one-on-one chat with Baltimore’s mayor at the ornate Chesapeake Shakespeare Company Theater downtown.
Henkin, also the director of new local programming for 88.1-FM, will be chatting with the mayor about… well, who knows? Perhaps we can learn about her upbringing in Philadelphia, her experience learning to navigate Baltimore upon arriving here for college, or her favorite blocks of Pigtown, where she and City Comptroller Joan Pratt co-own a high-end consignment shop. Or maybe we’ll hear about how “Out of the Blocks” profiles city neighborhoods and all of their characters, one block at a time. It’s all fair game, it would seem.
Tickets, while free (!) are first-come, first-served. If you can’t make it downtown, just watch the interview live on CharmTV.
6-8 p.m., Chesapeake Shakespeare Company Theater, 7 S. Calvert St., (410) 244-8570, more info and tickets here.
