There will soon be another place to shop for your jewelry needs in Harford County.
The family-owned jewelry chain Smyth Jewelers plans to open its fourth Maryland location this fall in Bel Air.
The jewelry company has signed a sublease for 1201 E. Churchville Road, a space that previously housed a Walgreens pharmacy store.
Smyth Jewelers will invest about $650,000 to renovate the 12,500 square-foot, two-story, freestanding building and convert it into a new showroom.
The chain also has its signature location in Timonium and satellite stores in Annapolis and Ellicott City.
Many of the company’s customers and employees already live in the Bel Air area, making this move a natural fit, said Bob Yanega, chief financial officer for Smyth Jewelers.
“We love the Bel Air community and have watched it grow for years,” Yanega said.
The company expects the new showroom to create 12 to 15 jobs.
The store is slated to open this fall, though the exact opening date partly depends on the arrival of custom showcase displays.
The property’s owner, AVC Bel Air LLC, purchased the building from KIMCO Realty in 2009.
