The Harford County school board on Thursday named two finalists in its search for the next superintendent of the county’s public school system.

The finalists are Dr. Stacey Gerringer and Dr. Dyann Mack.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, I am pleased that Dr. Stacey Gerringer and Dr. Dyann Mack have been selected as finalists in our superintendent search,” said Board of Education President Lauren Paige in a statement. “Both candidates bring a deep understanding of Harford County Public Schools, shaped by years of dedicated service to our students, staff, and community. I look forward to hearing from our community and engaging in the stakeholder panel process so that community voices remain central to this important decision. The Board values this feedback as we move forward in selecting the next leader of HCPS and continuing our commitment to success for all learners.”

Mack has been serving as interim superintendent of Harford County Public Schools since former superintendent Sean Bulson was placed on administrative leave in January and later fired.

After graduating from HCPS, Mack went on to earn degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, School Leadership, and Educational Leadership.

She offers more than 30 years of experience in education, having previously worked as a teacher, achievement gap coordinators, assistant principal, director of school instruction and performance, executive director of school instruction and performance, and deputy superintendent of academics.

Gerringer has served HCPS for more than 32 years, including currently as the principal of Abingdon Elementary School. She also offers experience as a teacher, mentor, teacher specialist, assistant principal, principal at Fountain Green Elementary, and president of the Association of Public School Administrators and Supervisors of Harford County.

Gerringer earned degrees in Elementary Education, School Leadership, and Educational Leadership.

The school board aims to choose and vote for the top candidate for superintendent by the end of May. The new superintendent would begin on July 1.
