Judging by the forecast, April’s showers may not have completely left us. But this weekend brings the blooming anyway.
One of the big festivals is the annual Flowermart, set for May 6 and 7 in the heart of Mt. Vernon. As indicated by the name, the flora is the highlight of the event. But there is plenty more on the schedule.
Organizers booked two stages of music, combining a host of folk, country, brass. Dances on the stage derive from the Polish and maypole tradition, but that won’t be the only spot for getting down. At 5:45 p.m. on Saturday, the annual dance contest seeks to prove who has been practicing the best moves all winter.
Another highlight happens earlier on Saturday, when the furry friends come out for spring for the pet parade.
And be sure to swing by the food for lemon peppermint sticks.
Check out the full schedule at the event website.
