Even as Gov. Martin O’Malley has budgeted $1.5 million to study the effects of hydraulic fracturing and determine a “responsible environmental standard” before commencing the practice in Maryland, two Montgomery County lawmakers are doing him one better and introducing legislation that would ban fracking in the state altogether.
Del. A. Shane Robinson and Sen. Karen Montgomery will hold a press conference today to talk about the bill, which is being introduced in both chambers this week.
