Baltimore’s Future Islands recently graced David Letterman’s stage for an encore performance following their career-making Late Show appearance last year. Thanks to the magic of eBay, cue cards from the show and the very same high-tops lead singer Samuel T. Herring was wearing (plus a bunch of other stuff) will go to the highest bidder.
All proceeds from the auction (plus a dollar-for-dollar matching donation from the band) will go to Baltimore Community Foundation’s Fund for Rebuilding Baltimore. Per the foundation’s website, the fund is being put toward “immediate needs” like providing human services and repairing businesses and neighborhoods as well as “[l]ong-term needs of communities disproportionately negatively affected by structural racism and systemic inequities.”
As of this blog post, the current bid for the shoes, cue cards, vinyl records and signed poster is $1,725.
