Happy July 4th, Baltimore. Whether you’re celebrating around the grill or at Bethany Beach, we hope you have a fantastic holiday. Here are just a few ways you can take it in, Maryland style.
If you hop out of bed now, you can probably make it down to AVAM’s annual 4th of July Pet Parade. What makes a more appropriately quirky Baltimore tradition than watching dogs, cats, and anything else you can dress in a tutu strut their stuff with absolutely no relationship to the meaning of the holiday itself? The parade kicks off at 10am, but surely the revelry and cuteness will continue longer than that.
Also happening today is a traditional country fair to celebrate the reopening of the Washington Monument. There will be music and food, beer and oysters, and lots of Baltimore love. This is a celebration not to be missed. So don’t miss it! The festival goes until 5pm.
At Charleston’s in Harbor East, Chef Wolf has cooked up a special July 4th menu. It features seasonal favorites, and is a great place to start off your night before stepping out to watch the fireworks. So for those not looking forward to scraping off the grill and shooing away the mosquitos, this may just be your ticket.
And of course, if you’d rather get away from it all, you can head out to Catoctin Breeze Vineyard this afternoon for live music from California Bob, and fabulous local wine. Then either spend the rest of the evening out in the country or head back to town for the greatest fireworks display in the state. Happy Independence Day.
