The Rotunda could soon be getting a great new grocer.
The Baltimore Sun is reporting that The Fresh Market, MOM’s Organic and Graul’s Market are all hoping to take the grocery store space at the fledgling mall. The 20,000 sq. ft. space used to be occupied by Giant supermarket.
Graul’s has put forth a proposal to the mall owner, Hekemian and Co., Dennis Graul, president of Graul’s Markets Inc., told The Sun. “We are a contender for the location, but we’re not in final negotiations,” Graul said. Graul’s markets in Ruxton and Mays Chapel are known for gourmet goodies, great service and a wide selection.
A decision on which market will get the space is expected from Hekemian at the end of the year.
Not that they’re asking, but our vote is for Graul’s. The Fresh Market is based in Greensboro, N.C. and MOM’s is based in Washington. We say give it to the locals.
