Patterson Park will be aglow with lantern art again this year as the Creative Alliance and The Friends of Patterson Park prepare to present the 23rd annual Great Halloween Lantern Parade and Festival on Oct. 22.

The all-day event will begin with a festival starting at 4 p.m. that will feature paper lantern making, hayrides, a costume contest, arts and crafts, pop up performances, local food trucks, a beer garden and more.

Once the sun sets, Patterson Park will be lit up by parade participants showcasing their lantern creations and spectators cheering them on with glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark accessories.

Attendees are invited to craft and carry their own handmade lantern as they join the parade, marching alongside stilt walkers, dancers, performers, and lanterns made to look like floating dragons, ghouls, and other mythical creatures.
