With a mix of DIY creativity and an etheral glow, The Great Lantern Parade is tucked into the local Halloween calendar, but itโs worth illuminating.
Organized by the Creative Alliance of Baltimore, the Patterson Park march is set for Sat., Oct. 24. A family-friendly festival gets going at 3:30 p.m., and the parade lines up at 6:30 p.m. by the parkโs boat lake.
Artists lead the way with magnificent, lit-up floats that seem cut out of the same creative cast as the Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race. Unlike that citywide trek, however, everyone is invited to join in with this event. All you have to do is show up with a light and a get-up.
Meanwhile, the festival near Eastern and Linwood Ave. has music, zumba, yoga and, of course, a costume contest. After the outdoor festivities are over, the Creative Alliance is hosting a dance party, so you donโt have to take off the costume to go out.
