Grilled cheese and panini shop Toasty Corner is opening at the former Afters Cafe space at 1001 S. Charles St. in Federal Hill. Toasty Corner is a new concept from Hasan Ilhan.
Ilhan has been in the neighborhood for more than two years and, while he has noticed many pizza shops, chicken restaurants, and ice cream shops, he saw the lack of restaurants selling paninis and grilled cheese.
Toasty Corner will offer paninis on white, sourdough, and ciabatta bread and customers will be able to build their own sandwich. There will be different meat and vegetable options with influences from Italy, where paninis originate from, as well as Ilhan’s home country of Turkey.
