Four women and one man were shot at a vigil for a homicide victim in West Baltimore.
Jermaine Scofield, 24, was killed on the 1800 block of W. North Avenue on Sunday. Friends and family who had gathered at the same location to hold a candlelight vigil on Monday evening were fired upon by an unknown gunman, according to reporting from WBAL.
Scofield’s mother, Doreen Scofield, told the Baltimore Sun she is “tired” of the violence. “It’s innocent people being shot.” she said. “Enough is enough.”
Keith Bailey, a florist who witnessed the vigil shooting from across the street, is also “so tired of this.” “Every week, I do a funeral for some baby that’s been shot,” he told the Sun. “I’m in the funeral home 24 hours a day.”
The five victims suffered only superficial wounds, the police said. The gunman has not been apprehended.
