Free event at 10 N. Charles Street will connect advocates, entrepreneurs and innovators with keynote address from former NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous – Hack Our City, an event organized by BMe, Economic Alliance of Greater Baltimore, Gensler, Global Shapers, Hack Baltimore, and Impact Hub Baltimore, is scheduled for Saturday, February 28 from 10 am to 2:30 pm at 10 N. Charles Street in Baltimore. The goal is to organize a gathering of committed Baltimoreans to celebrate, connect and accelerate the efforts of dynamic changemakers from across the City to promote positive activity in the metropolitan area. Former NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous will keynote the event. Jealous is currently a partner with Kapor Capital and Kapor Center for Social Impact. He is also editor of the new book “Reach: 40 Black Men Speak on Living, Leading, and Succeeding.”
Hack Our City will highlight some of the city’s unsung heroes working to make a positive difference in education, economic opportunity, criminal justice and reentry, and a variety of other areas. They include Chris Wilson, a Baltimore-based social entrepreneur and criminal justice advocate working to create employment opportunities for Baltimoreans with significant barriers to work, and Jess Gartner, founder and CEO of ed tech company Allovue, and a 2015 30 Under 30 selection by Forbes magazine.
Hack Our City attendees will exchange ideas, offer resources and provide guidance to attendees and the changemakers to help strengthen Baltimore City and its communities. Hack Our City organizers intend to identify opportunities for collaboration and support to strong-willed doers throughout the city, proving that the city has no shortage of entrepreneurial leaders committed to bringing about positive change.
10 N. Charles Street is owned and managed by Artemis Properties, Inc. The building is located at the intersection of N. Charles Street and Fayette Street. A free boxed lunch will be served at the event.
