Modern Trousseau, a purveyor of couture bridal gowns, is opening a new retail store in Harbor East.

The store, which will be the first for the designer in Maryland, is slated to open at 1429 Aliceanna Street early next year.

Founded in 2004, Modern Trousseau features the romantic creations of Australian-born clothing designer Callie Tein. The line is known for sophisticated twists on modern-style gowns, and for extensive customization offerings. Each and every piece in the line is available for custom modifications of color accents, trim, skirt shapes and strap selection to suit a bride’s individual style.

The gowns are made in the United States, with a production house in Woodbridge, CT.  The Harbor East location will be Modern Trousseau’s seventh store, following others in New Haven, Conn., New York City, Louisville, Nashville, Charleston, S.C., and Savannah, Ga. The line is also sold through select high-end bridal retailers worldwide.

“We are honored to be chosen as the first Maryland location and look forward to welcoming brides from all over the state to Baltimore City and to the neighborhood,” said Harbor East President Tim O’Donald in a press release from Modern Trousseau.

The couture bridal shop joins a swiftly growing community of luxury shops and restaurants in Harbor East, and will be the first bridal boutique in the neighborhood.
