The wait is over for Hippodrome fans.
Ron Legler, president of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, announced the Hippodrome Theatreโs 2026/2027 Hippodrome Broadway Series lineup, which kicks off in September.
The Hippodrome teased the possibilities in a playful Instagram post, showing a mood board and challenging theater fans to try to guess which shows were coming to the venue. Now is the time to see how accurate those predictions were.

The season begins with the North American tour launch of โMaybe Happy Ending,โ winner of six Tony Awards, including best musical. Praised as โone of the best musicals in yearsโ by USA Today, this one had already been announced, but the robot love story brings the buzz to Baltimore.
In October, โSIX,โ the pop musical about King Henry VIIIโs six wives (some of whom did NOT meet happy endings) returns to Baltimore after a sold-out engagement in 2023. โSIXโ will be the first season option for subscribers.
In November, the Hippodrome will have the Baltimore debut of Alicia Keysโ hit Broadway musical โHellโs Kitchen,โ set to her 17-time Grammy-winning songbook and inspired by the Hellโs Kitchen neighborhood and community in New York City, where she grew up. The show was a โNew York Timesโ Criticโs Pick.
December brings a celebration of the holidays, with the return of Cirque du Soleilโs beloved family spectacle โโTwas the Night Before…โ The show is back by popular demand as a season option. A reimagined take on the classic for all ages, Cirqueโs performance blends breathtaking acrobatics, whimsical storytelling and the spirit of the season.
Turning the calendar to 2027, January brings โThe Sound of Music,โ a critically acclaimed new North American tour of the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic. The story and score are timeless, and the iconic message of not living behind closed doors is right on time.
February brings audiences โDeath Becomes Her,โ the musical comedy adapted from the 1992 cult-classic film that starred Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn about beauty, rivalry and eternal youth. โThe Daily Beastโ calls it a โa cheek-aching laughter roller coaster โ the most fun night out!โ
Pulitzer Prize-winning โHamiltonโ returns in March with a multi-week run, continuing to inspire audiences worldwide. The story of one of our nationโs founders recounts Alexander Hamiltonโs passion, unstoppable ambition, and the shaping of a new nation.
In April, the Hippodrome welcomes the market debut of โThe Outsiders,โ winner of four 2024 Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Adapted from S.E. Hintonโs iconic novel, the new musical navigates the complexities of self-discovery and celebrates friendship, family, belonging, and the realization that there is still โlots of good in the world.โ
May will have theater-goers asking, โWhatโs your damage?โ with the North American Tour launch of โHeathers The Musical.โ The show is based on the 1989 cult film of the same name by Daniel Waters that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. โHeathersโ is set at Westerberg High, where popularity is a matter of life and death, and Veronica Sawyer is taken under the wings of three beautiful and impossibly cruel Heathers. Fortunately (or not?) she finds her dreams of popularity finally starting to come true.
Closing out the season in June, the Hippodrome will present Disneyโs โBeauty and the Beast,โ Disneyโs first North American touring production of the musical in over 25 years. Featuring new designs and the Oscar-winning score audiences know and love, this family classic promises a grand and magical finale to the season.
Three productions featured in the 2026/2027 Hippodrome Broadway Series are eligible for Marylandโs Theatrical Tax Credit Program established in 2022: โMaybe Happy Ending,โ โSIX,โ and โHeathers the Musical.โ
โThis season reflects everything we strive to bring to Baltimore: bold new voices, iconic stories, and the very best of touring Broadway,โ Legler said in a statement. โWe are also proud to continue launching national tours from our historic Hippodrome Theatre this season, further solidifying Baltimoreโs role as a home for Broadway beyond New York. Baltimore continues to be the destination for touring productions, and that success is made possible by the passion of our audiences and the loyalty of our subscribers. Their continued support allows us to bring world class theatre to the Hippodrome year after year.โ
Information about individual ticket sales and subscription options is available on the Hippodrome Theatreโs website. Specific calendar information about each show in the new season is also available on the website.
