Bottles of red wine on a wooden shelf

The champagne has been popped and sipped, the confetti scattered and swept away. Now, Baltimore restaurants are resetting for the new year. For some, that means short breaks before diving into January while others are jumping in feet first, with big events planned.

Here’s a look at what’s happening in the Baltimore restaurant scene during the first week of 2026:

Openings & announcements

Josefina, the long-awaited Spanish restaurant in Harbor Point, opened for a special dinner on New Year’s Eve. Keep an eye out for regular dinner reservations – the space and food are both gorgeous.

Foraged has announced a partnership with Patowmack Farm in Virginia. Chef Chris Amendola shared last week that the Foraged team will take over operations of the farm’s restaurant this coming year.

A few local spots are taking short winter breaks, including Charleston, which has reservations available starting on Wednesday, and Dylan’s Oyster Cellar, which will reopen on Tuesday.

Happy anniversary to Dutch Courage, which celebrated six years in business on Dec. 28.

Woodpile BBQ at Ryleigh’s

On Sunday, Woodpile BBQ will pop up at Ryleigh’s Oyster, starting at 11 a.m. The menu includes pit beef (and other smoked meats) and classic BBQ sides. Plan to stay for the long haul, too – the restaurant is hosting a Raven’s watch party at game time.

Truffles at Charleston

When Charleston reopens after its “winter pause,” it’s doing so in style, with multiple menu items celebrating winter truffles. Dishes include black winter truffle and foie gras soup with a puff pastry dome, and winter truffle risotto.

Greek wine dinner

On Wednesday, The Black Olive hosts a dinner showcasing the wines of Greece, from Santorini to Naoussa to Florina. The meal includes wines from each region, matched with complementary dishes, along with discussion of the history and terroir of Greece.

Fundraising at MWT

Also on Wednesday, Mt. Washington Tavern is throwing a fundraiser to raise money for pancreatic cancer research and the needs of the family of Bob “The Wheel” Popik, the Orioles, Ravens and Navy DJ who recently passed from the disease.

The evening includes live music, a raffle and silent auction, and an appetizer buffet.
